JENNIFER MCWHORTER

Kids Coach

Born and raised in Ontario, Canada, Jennifer moved to Texas, where she got married, became a mother, and found something that would change her life on the mats at Combate Academy. What started as a personal outlet quickly grew into a passion for building strength, confidence, and community. Today she pours that same energy into coaching our kids, meeting every young student right where they are.

JENNIFER MCWHORTER

Jennifer began her jiu jitsu journey in April 2023. After an initial struggle to find the right academy, she found her home when Combate Academy opened its doors in October of that same year. Now a white belt, she trains with unmatched enthusiasm and a genuine commitment to exploring everything the sport has to offer.

She's woven that passion into her family life, training alongside her young children and building an environment where they experience newfound confidence, strength, and community together. Watching her son and daughter flourish, both in the sport and as individuals, has become one of the most fulfilling parts of her journey. It's exactly what she loves bringing to the kids she coaches: patience, encouragement, and a space where every child feels capable and seen.

A quote that has stayed with her sums up her outlook: "It is better to live your own destiny imperfectly than to live an imitation of somebody else's life with perfection." For Jennifer, it's a reminder to embrace her whole self, energetic, spirited, and all in. She's found that jiu jitsu is the perfect outlet for exactly that, adding richness and authenticity to her life and to the way she connects with her students.
